Door panels....check!....finals week....check!...xmas break....check!

Wrapping up the semester here in middle kansas, I can't believe how much I have learned this semester. Going from having never sewn in my life to creating something I can be proud of. On top of having horrendous patch panels in my biscayne, to fabricating quarter panels.

Living In Middle Kansas

So, the thing that has been taking up all of my time these days is school. I'm doing working on my bachelors in Auto Restoration. I' m learning so much it makes my skills prior to school look horrid. I'm in trim right now, working on the door panels for my biscayne, i'm also in sheet metal restoration, learning so much about welding and fabrication. The sheet metal class is my favorite, also the most challenging one for me. I wish I was naturally good at it, but its something i'm working at. Here are some photos of the beginnings of my door panels, got them all ripped apart in class the other day. Fortunately I was able to salvage the shape for all four of them, it will serve as nice templates for when I get new materials (which I will be picking up this weekend).

Lowbrow Apocalypse

I had an art opening first friday in December to show what I have been working on lately. It's an installation at the Base gallery in the bottom floor of the Leedy Volkous Art Center. The show will be up until the end of January 2012 Baltimore.

Unscene Fashion Show KC

A while ago I participated in a kustom kulture fashion show called UnScene. I was planning on just sending models down the runway in all black with my pieces as the highlight. I got asked to model for a fellow designer in the show, so we actually decided to collaborate as well as have me model for her clothes. I requested I to be put in a Punk Rods dress to represent for the car club im prospecting with. We were both very proud of the end result. I pinstriped handbags and shoes to match her dresses, and I also pinstriped some pieces for her to screenprint onto each piece of clothing. Over the course of preparing for this show I gained a great friend and colleague I absolutely adore her work. Each piece she creates is custom fitted to the model, (or you, she can make something out of whatever you want!) Check her stuff out at saumfrock.com

Gear Grinder 09 Kansas City

Couple of weekends ago, I was a vendor at the Gear Grinder carshow in my hometown of Kansas City, MO. Saturday turned out a pretty decent crowd, I was painting all day. The show was held at Knuckleheads, a very fun venue.
